Discrete solar water heating near Padstow - Solar Thermal

We have been chosen to supply, install and commission a solar thermal system near Padstow. The customer was concerned to find a system that matched his rooflights, meaning we had to choose a system that would be mounted in-roof. The Worcester Bosch Solar Lifestyle system provided the ideal solution, as the flashing kit that comes with the system means it can be mounted in-roof in the same way as the Velux rooflights on the same elevation.
As well as a system with the desired aesthics, the customer will benefit from our MCS-accreditation for solar thermal installations. When the system is commissioned, he will qualify for a 300 pound cash-back under the Renewable Heat Premium Payment, with the potential for ongoing tariff payments from next year, when the Renewable Heat Incentive will begin.

Solar Thermal

Heat domestic hot water with solar radiation from the sun

Solar panels, also known as collectors are fitted to a roof of a building capturing the sun's energy. The system then pumps a heated fluid from the panel to the cylinder, which in turns transfers the heat to one of the two coils within a domestic hot water cylinder; the second coil is connected to your main heat source to provide assistance when solar radiation is unavailable.

All our solar systems come complete with solar collectors, roof mounting systems, an expansion vessel, pump station, control panel and a glycol/water solution; this fluid will enable the solar system to be able to withstand extreme external temperatures.

Solar thermal is typically not suitable to provide space heating due to the lack of solar energy available during the winter months and the fact that space heating is mostly required when it's dark outside.

Key features & benefits:

  • Hot water throughout the year: the system works all year round, with a boiler or back up immersion to assist with heating your hot water during the winter months.
  • Cut your bills: Once you've paid for the initial installation your hot water costs may be reduced by up to 70%.
  • Easy to install: no need for regular maintenance.
  • Renewable Heat Incentive: significant savings can be achieved using solar thermal systems, under the government's new scheme the 'Renewable Heat Incentive' (RHI) allowing for an annual pay back rewarding those who invest in such qualifying technologies.
